I know there is so much more to see
I can feel it at the fringe of reality
Woven in the tapestry

I can hear it in these cosmic harmonies

Skating the fringes of all that I know
I realize that everything may never be known
Enlightenment slowly ablating my efforts
To reinforce my solipsism
I cannot deny that I feel an edge to things

There is a frame underlying the world
Where my clever constructs evolve
Slowly morphing my sense
Of everything so far believed
I refuse to trust in doctrines that crumble to dust
Which posit realities incompatible
With everything so far conceived
And I simply refuse to accept mere words
From someone who claims on faith alone
To know more than me

I know there is so much more to see
I can feel it at the fringe of reality
Woven in the tapestry
I know there is somewhere else to be
I can hear it in these cosmic harmonies
And I am passing through

Desperate pleading will never confer
Impunity on fantasy or pseudo-history
The surrender to blind faith will never supplant
The need to question everything…

If I believed that nothing of me would remain
Beyond this haunted precipice
I might forfeit my right to demand
Enlightened explanation
I can either relent and believe
In bronze-age mythology
Or open my mind and learn
Through science by testing reality
Freed from the chains of religion
And forced interpretations
I now have a joy to eclipse
Any fear of what’s to come
