In the beginning our search for answers
Failed to alleviate life’s afflictions
We created gods and magical masters
But religion yielded no predictions

Our original sin was simple abdication
Of our innate responsibility
To learn and grow through investigation
To come to grips with reality

Science alone foretells the future

For some magical explanation

Our Exodus from ignorant savagery
Was a long and arduous path
But when we dispensed with the pomp and pageantry
Science dispelled witchcraft

But there are those who fear the change
For they have authored this tyrannical delusion
They wield the fear of god to suppress inquiry
Time to dismantle this institution

History is fraught with crimes of subjective validation
A litany of caustic rhymes and defiled elucidations
By now, we should know better than this
And forgo our ignorant past
Denounce this petulant hate
Fostered by Religion, Race, and Cast
