Are we so unwilling
To hold faith in another god?
We have learned our religious lessons well
Cherubim be damned

There’s no proof for your Heaven, no Hell
And we know that you are not Angels

Of your deception and improbable veracity

The poisonous fruit from a synthetic knowledge tree

You paraded as gods and are not forgiven
Yet we have one last question for Thee

Did you really think we would remain naive?
Did you truly think we would still believe?

Dust to dust
Return as you must
Sun to son
Compassion for no one
Death of trust
We nourish, we cherish
The lie undone
And now we rival our gods

We have uncovered what you have hidden
We’re a manipulated species

We have divined the difference between good and evil
Created in your image to bow in service

We’ve grown beyond your mythology
We have uplifted ourselves with technology


Fear me
We can also walk on water
My gods
We’ve no more blood for your alter
We will no longer pray to you
We will prey on you
Our gods, fear us!


There was a time long ago when we were young
Our species so naive
You were superior yet spurious
We were easy to deceive
So we prayed to you as gods
Incomprehensible technology

Your science seemed as magic
And your miracles, they astounded us
Non-falsifiable dogma
Perpetually confounded us
With increasingly pragmatic utility

In the course of your surprising absence
We have come unto our own
The forced veil of ignorance lifted
And relentlessly we have grown
Our science dispelled your godhood
Through technology we finally understood
There are no such things as gods!

You are reduced to base falsities
By the solvent of rationality
Completely dissolved in truth

We’ve grown stronger than you can imagine
We have breached your skydome to conquer the stars
No longer to live in subjugation
We have one last question:
Now that we know what you are
Deceive us again; would you be foolish enough to try?
