I remember afternoon time
Frolicking with souls I used to know
Excited just to be together;
Said we’d never let it go
Succumbing to the lure of something new
Hoping the day would never end
And in the evening we would dream
Of times to come with our friends

But then all of time stood still
And we resonated
The moment locked into sensual memory
There was no more time to kill
I could see it in their quivering eyes
That realization hit that we would all one day die

Time dilutes the intensity
Of our favorite memories
But the pure emotion remains unscathed

So much has passed before us

The tribulations we endured

Time rearranges everything and everyone
And we endure

There are precious lucid moments
When everything dear comes into focus
With grave and daunting clarity we see
In these withering spells
We cannot escape our human frailty
We gather for another passing
With haunting revelry

It felt like nothing else was real
Kind of overwhelming
Strangers gathered, refreshing recollections
It was erotically surreal, faces growing older
Youthfulness evaporated
Fraught with imperfections

Thunder claps across this Uncanny Valley
herald foreboding storms
The tempest of entropy

Through our selfless deeds
As tightly as we are
Through our most visceral depravities
But as the years roll by the details fade
And from the pain we are spared
And we reiterate the best times we ever shared
And we endure

Live life to the fullest
And try to take chances when you can
Resonate with family and always have a plan
To guide the ones around you
That may need a helping hand
And love to the maximum every chance you can

And try to rise above
